E-mail to the Label Company

The project that we have been set is to create a music video using a piece of existing music. As part of the task we had to acquire the permission from the record label, which would state that we were using the music track for educational purposes only.

In order to do this we decided to send an e-mail to RCA Records. Within this e-mail, we would state all the key information that we would then send to the record label for their approval. The e-mail is below:

Dear RCA Records,

We are a group of students working on an A Level project in Media Studies. We are writing to request permission to use the following track as part of this project, 'For The First Time’ by ‘The Script’

We are creating a short music video, and with your permission the track would be used as the accompaniment to this short video. It is made purely for assessment purposes and will have no commercial usage. This video will only be viewed by our fellow pupils and the examiner from the examination board.

We promise that the artist and RCA Records will be fully recognized in the pre-production and any other products that accompany the project. If required we can also include a full copyright notice in both the planning and in video itself.

Yours sincerely
